Mortgage Default Intake Orientation

The Community Housing Resource Center will be holding a free Mortgage Default Orientation on Tuesday, August 17th, from 5-6PM at the Center. This workshop is the required first step in learning how to work with your lender and how the Center can assist you in resolving your mortgage issue. You do not need to be in default to get help. No reservations are required. For information, contact 360-690-4496 X105. The Community Housing Resource Center is a HUD certified, non-profit counseling/education center.

Watershed Restoration Film Festival & Awards Ceremony

We invite you to meet the winners of the "Stories From Our Watersheds" film contest at a free event at the Ecotrust Building this Tuesday August 17th. Come be inspired by their short films (10 minutes or less) about watershed restoration in the West. We will be joined by filmmakers, restoration supporters and practitioners, and community members. Come celebrate the social, environmental and economic achievements of restoration activities!

position summary:

Well Arts Institute is seeking a grant-writing intern to assist with grant-writing work at the Well Arts Office. We currently run two programs: Voices of Our Elders (working with elders of the community) and we are relaunching our War Echoes program working with veterans. We facilitate 8-10 week creative writing and visual art workshops. At the end of the workshop, each participant is given a bound book of their creations, and paired with a professional actor who rehearses with them and then performs their story on stage for the wider community. We usually partner with organizations for space and access to the communities we serve, and the partner organization receives an anthology of the workshop writings as well as a dvd of the performances.

Office Manager Position in Tanzania

Make a difference in the lives of children in a remote area of East Africa by managing the financial functions of Orkeeswa Secondary School. Portland-based Indigenous Education Foundation of Tanzania (IEFT) (www.ieftz.org) is a non-profit organization that collaborates with rural communities in Tanzania to provide quality, affordable secondary education to indigenous children. IEFT has an opportunity for an Office Manager to support the organization in operating Orkeeswa Secondary School, located between Mt. Kilimanjaro and the Serengeti. The position is currently open and includes a stipend to cover living expenses in Tanzania. The Office Manager will be responsible for carrying out the financial and accounting functions of IEFT and Orkeeswa Secondary School.

Successful candidates for the Youth Program Instructor position will have passion and experience working with diverse and low-income youth; familiarity with experiential education; experience facilitating groups; and an interest in bicycles.
