St. David’s First Ever Last Chance Bazaar

Remember when church bazaars sold crafts put together by church women who met together weekly for a year to share their gifts of friendship and caring, while preparing hand-made items that would support the good works of the church? St. David of Wales has revived that tradition this year. This bazaar combines those offerings – which of course benefit from strength of the Portland “recycle/reuse” arts community – with the incredible work of many other local artisans.

Wine Down for the Holidays

Oregon wines - particularly its Pinots - are rising stars in the wine world. But locally, these romantic grapes are responsible for some very down-to-earth numbers: Oregon's 300-plus vineyards annually contribute nearly a billion net dollars to the economy and provide close to 10,000 jobs.

Christmas in a Minor Key - The Longest Night Service Tuesday 12/22 at 5:30 pm

The holiday season is not a joyful time for everyone. If you have lost a loved one in the past year, or if Christmas reminds you of a time of loss, or if the holidays are difficult for you for any reason at all, it can be hard to navigate through the season. Join the community at St. David of Wales for a special service in which we anticipate Christmas in a reverent way that acknowledges the ambiguity of the time in which we live. Members of the Portland Threshold Choir will sing at this service, which is open to all, not just those who claim a connection with a church. All who come are invited to bring a photo or other memento of a loved one or personal symbol of the season.

Free Desk / U-Haul

Vintage wooden secretary desk free to a nonprofit (u-haul from my home in NE Portland). The desk is in good shape and clean. True to its vintage, it has a hidden typewriter shelf on the left(instead of drawers). But you could put a hanging file rack there, as the shelf slides in and out. Photos of the desk are here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/emscripter/

To claim the desk, email me at [email protected].

Q & A

Looking for a Meeting Space Downtown

Hello,

We are desperately searching for a meeting space for Portland Downtown Neighborhood Association's new Sustainability Committee. People at CNRG are in the know, and might have ideas on places that would accommodate our group. The main problem we're having is finding a venue that would be open from 7-9 PM on the first Monday of each month that either is very low cost or free. We are looking for a space that could fit a maximum of 30 people. Please respond to me: [email protected] if you have suggestions, or if you would like more information about the committee or the neighborhood!

Thanks!
