A Fine Line: Appraising the Region’s Urban Growth Boundary

On November 6, City Club welcomes Michael Jordan, chief operating officer at Metro, and Mayor Jerry Willey of Hillsboro who will appraise the strengths and restrictions of Portland’s urban growth boundary. They will discuss the delicate balance the region is working to achieve as Portland’s urban planners move toward decisions about the next 50 years of land needs. They will also offer alternative perspectives on the best way to manage the region’s projected population growth while maintaining its quality of life.

Looking for info "Addressing the Food Gap"

We are a group of Portland State University students from a capstone class titled "Addressing the Food Gap". We are partnering with p:ear, a non-profit organization that serves homeless youth in downtown Portland. http://www.pearmentor.org/

Our task at hand is to build a relationship between p:ear and the local food system, creating access to healthy, local food for homeless youth. We are working to secure a CSA for p:ear.

We are looking for a CSA model that builds food equity into the financial set-up of the CSA. Our commitment is to creating a sustainable relationship that is logistically harmonious and breaks down barriers to healthy food for the youth that p:ear serves.

Q & A

Best Merchant Services?

Our organization has events where we sell tickets and merchandise, and we want to be able to authorize and accept credit cards. We do not have reliable internet access at our venues, so we will need a wireless card swiper for this purpose. We also receive donations where credit card info is provided, but cards are not available, so we will need to be able to key in those transactions.

I am having difficulty getting unbiased reviews and straightforward pricing information. Most of the online review sites seem to be (pretty obviously) underwritten by the merchant services providers themselves.

In need of a Podium

Hello!

We have our annual fundraiser on Nov. 12th in Milwaukie, and we would like to have a podium for our speakers to use. The place where we are holding the event does not have one, and we're on a very tight budget and would love to borrow one.

I'd be happy to pick up and drop off the podium.

Thanks!

Sincerely,

Sara
