Deconstruction Workshop, Home Builders Association

DECONSTRUCTION Workshop Friday May 29th 7:30am-9:00am

Home Builders Association of Metro Portland's Building Green Council is offering a Deconstruction workshop.

Attendees will have a chance to hear from Bryce Jacobson Senior Planner with Metro’s Sustainability Center and Doug Lichter Director of the ReBuilding Center’s Deconstruction Services.  They will talk about the services they offer for recycling disposal and material reuse. Joel Fraley, Project Designer for the Remodeling Division at Neil Kelly will also talk about how Neil Kelly has brought deconstruction into their projects and how successful it has been.

The cost for Members is $10.00 and $20.00 for non members. Pay at the door. Light breakfast buffet is included.

Heart of Now Portland June 12-14

Hey Portland! Here's another opportunity to co-create a magical weekend with Heart of Now. We will be holding the next Heart of Now course at the Village Free School in SE Portland June 12 - 15. We will begin at 7pm on Friday and be complete by 8:30pm on Sunday.

The early registration deadline for the Portland Heart of Now is coming up next Tuesday, May 25th. That is when the registration price goes up from $195 to $225 (which is soooo reasonable for what you get at Heart of Now). So encourage your friends to sign up now! Curious about where your drinking water comes from?  Join an annual bicycle tour of Portland’s groundwater system on Saturday, June 13 from 9 am to 1:30 pm.  

Staff from the Portland Water Bureau and the Columbia Slough Watershed Council will lead this free trip focusing on Portland’s back-up water supply system. Bring your bike, helmet, water, lunch, and weather-appropriate clothing.

Job Responsibilities:

The Robert Gray SUN School Summer Instructor will prepare and/or implement curriculum and teach academic activities focused on science, math or reading for 6-8th graders, as well as supervise lunch time and teach enrichment (arts, drama, sports) or group games for an hour daily.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in education and experience teaching middle school aged students Strong classroom management skills and natural leadership qualities Positive and enthusiastic attitude
