COST ALLOCATION

Allocation of your expenses can be one of the trickiest parts of nonprofit accounting. What method do you use? How do you allocate your costs in your accounting system? Some funding agencies may have their own rules about allocating funds to the projects they fund. This session will cover some accounting system set up and go over methods for identifying the allocation process that will work best for your organization. Do your funding sources include government? Do you and your board want to see a better breakdown of how costs are distributed in order to make more fully informed decisions? Come to this session - and it will all add up.

Participants will come away with a better understanding of the budgeting process and cash flow management and which reports say what and why they are important.

Volunteer to be a Summer Tree Inspector with Friends of Trees

Help care for trees this summer without digging or getting dirty! Friends of Trees is kicking off its popular Summer Inspector program next month and we invite you to join us. Summer Inspectors are given a neighborhood-based route of approximately 30 trees to visit twice over the course of the summer. These are trees that were planted over the course of our last planting season which ran from last November through this April.

The best part is that there is no schedule – you figure out what works best for you! (We estimate that each time through the route will take about 4 hours.)
