position summary:

Purpose: To enhance culturally competent financial education and counseling services offered by the Community Housing Resource Center to under served minority community members in SW Washington.

Supervisor: Executive Director

Major Responsibilities: • Perform community outreach to spread the word to under served low- and moderate-income communities about the availability of financial education and counseling services at the Center. • Recruit and support professional financial services volunteers who will help teach financial education in both English and additional languages. • Assist financial counselors and volunteer instructors with appropriate translation services. • Represent the Center on the Clark County Asset Building Coalition.

Salary / Pay Rate:This is a ten month, full-time service position through the Washington State Service Corps. Volunteer will receive a stipend and an education award upon successful completion of service. The applicant cannot have had more than one prior term of volunteer service with an education award. Health benefits and training opportunities provided. Childcare available if eligible.

The Institute for For Culture and Ecology (IFCAE) seeks someone in the Portland, OR region to fill the position of treasurer. This is a volunteer position and a voting member on the Board of Directors.

 

Background Requirements: This is an important position in our organization and therefore we need somebody who can commit an average of 3 hours of time per week. The person must be comfortable communicating frequently by email in a timely manner. We prefer a certified public accountant but we will seriously consider any application that demonstrates strong accounting knowledge. The position requires the ability to read spreadsheets in Excel.

The Development Director is a key member of Impact NW’s Leadership Team and will work closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors in developing and executing a strategic funding plan for the organization, both short and long term. Concordia Street Tree Inventory

Citizens interested in the quality of Portland’s urban forest are invited to attend Concordia’s first street tree inventory workshop! The workshop is part of the neighborhood’s effort to examine the count, type, size, and health of the local street trees. Once completed, the inventory will help create the Concordia Neighborhood Stewardship Plan, which will include findings of current conditions and recommendations for acheving neighborhood street tree goals. All Portlanders are encouraged to take part in the inventory and consider their neighborhood’s interest in a future street tree inventory and Neighborhood Stewardship Plan. The first of three sessions will take place on Saturday, August 21, 2010, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Art in the Pearl is a 3 day fine art and craft fair during Labor Day Weekend.

 

Over 100 artists exhibit, along with a world music stage, demonstrations and food. We are a non- profit organization committed to art education and outreach. If you are interested in volunteering to help with booth sitting, recycling, children's education tent.

OMSI Science Days Event Volunteer- Evenings/Sunday Help Still Needed

OMSI Needs your help August 12-15th (Thursday- Sunday)!

 

Join the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) as a volunteer this weekend!

 

August 12-15, OMSI will need lots of additional help from you to host OMSI Science Days. During these days the museum will be open 9:00am-9:00pm and visitors will enjoy a variety of offerings around the museum.

 

This is a major special event that is expected to draw thousands of visitors each day so having additional help will be wonderful! Volunteers at this event will earn a pass for free admission to the museum on a day of their choice.

 

Each day (Aug 12-15) our third shift is available: Shift 3: 4:00pm-9:00pm

Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation is seeking volunteers to help improve the trails at Whipple Creek Regional Park on Saturday, August 21st from 9:-1:00. This volunteer event marks the continuation of a long-term collaboration between Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation and the Clark County Executive Horse Council to improve the entire trail system within the 300-acre regional park.
