Think & Drink with John Frohnmayer: A happy hour conversation series sponsored by the Oregon Council for the Humanities. Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at 6:30 p.m. rontoms, 600 E. Burnside, Portland. Free and open to the public.

John Frohnmayer, former chair of the National Endowment for the Arts and independent Senate candidate in 2008, will lead a discussion on corporate citizenship and how it jeopardizes democracy at the next Think & Drink, a happy hour conversation series that this season looks at consumer culture.

Capoeira Angola is a dance related martial art from Brazil. The Portland Study Group is part of the International Capoeira Angola Foundation. We look forward to sharing and building community around capoeira as a form of expression and liberation. Our event is celebrating our move into a space of our own.

Saturday, January 24th

6 - 7 pm Capoeira Angola workshop- open to beginners and first time students. Taught by Contra Mestre Silvinho from Seattle

7 - 9 pm Open roda. If you have experience, come play (all levels) or please come to watch capoeira in action

Hollywood Farmers' Market Now accepting applications for the position of Community Volunteer Coordinator (approximately 25 hours per week during market season)

The Community Volunteer Coordinator (CVC) coordinates the Hollywood Farmers’ Market Volunteer Program and works with the Board of Directors and other market staff to manage volunteers and community groups on a weekly basis. The CVC is also responsible for community outreach, marketing-related tasks, customer relations (with Board support), and site equipment purchases. Impact NW Seeks Contract Event Planner for 2009 Summer Garden Party

Impact Northwest (formerly Portland Impact) is seeking to fill a contract event planner position for the organization's Summer Garden Party Gala. The Summer Garden Party is an outdoor event, hosted by Portland Nursery on SE Division St.  The event features live and silent auctions, musical entertainment, a dinner for guests and a VIP reception for sponsors.  The goal for the event is to educate community members about the needs Impact NW meets in the community and raise funds in support of the agency's work.

Alcohol & Drug Counselor/Recovery Coordinator

This is a full time position made up of two half time positions funded through two CSAT grants providing services to homeless youth in Portland. The population to be served is between the ages of 16-24. The position works closely with Outside In and other homeless youth agencies to provide addiction treatment and follow up. Treatment services will be provided in locations convenient to the population. Recovery coordination services include outreach, support, tracking and data entry as well as coordination with other agencies that are part of the system of care addressing the alcohol and drug issues and needs of homeless youth.

Bradley-Angle House is the oldest domestic violence shelter on the west coast and has been assisting survivors of family violence since 1975.  We have many programs to help people affected by domestic violence and a phenomenal, dedicated staff working directly with survivors.  We are seeking YOUR input and skills to help us help more people in need of our services.

The Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center serves more than 34,000 patients each year, many of whom face barriers to accessing healthcare, including language, cultural or socioeconomic barriers. Virginia Garcia provides primary care, dental, vision, mental healthcare, and education programs.
